We are a small group of passionate artists and citizens who believe that Dia de los Muertos should be celebrated. Our mission is to spread awareness of this holiday to Victoria and the surrounding communities.

ABOUT DIA DE LOS MUERTOS

Also known as "day of the dead" in the U.S., Dia de los muertos is a celebration that originated in central and southern mexico. The belief is that the souls of deceased children come down from heaven at midnight on October 31st and reunite with their families on November 1st, and the souls of deceased adults come on November 2nd.

Families make altars to honor their deceased loved ones, and they celebrate the lives of the deceased with food, drink, and parties. Dia de los Muertos recognizes death as a natural part of the human experience, and on this holiday, the dead are awakened to share in celebrations with their loved ones.

This year, we are operating solely from the help of volunteers and on donations from the community to make this event a success.

There will be music, food, exhibits of altars & retablos, and performances by local folklorico and mariachi groups.

Join us at 6:00 PM for the procession. Walk with us or bring chairs to set up along the route and watch. Please bring your own candles. Face Painting will also be available at the festival before the procession starts.
